October has left the building but November is here and we sure know what that means – holiday season is back in town! In case you aren’t as prepared as we are, worry not! We have listed events with interesting activities for you to be a part of. Check them out!
Organized by University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Kota Kinabalu City Hall, the graduates of UMS representative including its Board of Directors and Senate members will be doing a parade in the streets of Kota Kinabalu, prior to its Convocation ceremony. This annual event signify the harmonize community of Kota Kinabalu and the institution, apart from motivating the company towards excellence in education.
This two-day event is a great opportunity for participants to exhibit their talents and skills to promote the spirit of togetherness among the industry players. Organizes by ATI College and MAH Sabah/Labuan Chapter, this annual event is a demonstration high standards of passion and commitment of the hospitality and tourism industry player, from Sabah and other parts of Malaysia.
Organized by Sabah Museum, this event is held in commemorating the balik kampung culture we used to uphold. It aims to bring back the experience of the holiday season and how it was celebrated back in the day to the younger generation. Students are invited to spend the night at the museum’s Heritage Village where the atmosphere of balik kampung is recreated with varies activity to be carried out later. So save the date and be a part of it!
Sea Turtles are one of the oldest creatures on earth, and are classified as one of the endangered species. Therefore Borneo Diver’s and Sea Sports (Sabah) Sdn Bhd will be organizing this event lead by Turtle Spotter Diver or Research Assistant team on a research vessel at Mabul Island. This Outreach Program will enable participants to have a hands-on experience on how to catch, tag, record, monitor and release the Sea Turtles.
Known for its agriculture, Kota Marudu is located at the northern district of Sabah. Come and join the celebration of Kota Marudu Festival and enjoy cultural performances, sample traditional food and while you’re there, visit the handicraft and tourism fare. Don’t forget to mark your calendar and join the fun!
Marking its third International Tattoo Convention in Sabah, KOIYAK Gloves aims to be the biggest convention in Asia with tattoo artist participation from all over the world. The two-day event has gathered participants from 24 countries and still counting. Definitely something for tattoo enthusiast to look forward too!
Calling all surf enthusiasts to come down and join this two – day event at the tip of Borneo to jazz up the Music and Surf Fest in Kalampunan Beach, Kudat. Apart from promoting the mesmerizing beaches in Kudat as a tourist destination for outdoor activities and surf culture, this event also aims to showcase the tradition and customs of the Rungus community.
Labelled as the Switzerland of the East, the festival takes place on the banks of Tondulu River, showcasing Tambunan – born and bred entertainers. Feast you senses with the melodies of the valley through an array of evergreen as well as contemporary hits during the first ever music festival in Tambunan.
Come down to the famous Singer Valley, or as locals call it; Singer Factory and allow yourself to be fed with the enchanted beautiful places and talented singers offered here in Tambunan. Explore the Eco Tourism Exhibition that will be held during the day and meet with the tourism agencies to find out what they offer for both tranquil and thrill seekers. While you’re there, head down to the Pisompuruan Square and enjoy the open theater where the local artist entertains you with songs and dances that can be enjoyed by people from all ages and walks of life.
Head to Manggatal Town Field and sign up for the Kokol Hill Challenge Final Series where you will be pushed to the greater limits of adventure. Be prepared to go downhill, uphill, get soaked on the river section, and put your mental and physical to the test where you will go uphill at the last section for 6 kilometres to the finish line.
