Can you believe it? We’ve finally reach the middle of 2017 and it’s been one heck of a ride so far. So much has happened and we’re definitely looking forward to more great things. But let’s take it a day at a time, shall we?
Not sure what to look forward to next month? Well, here are some events and activities that might interest you in the month of June:
VISIT TAMBUNAN YEAR
A battle of wits and physical strength, this is Tambunan’s first ever Strongman Competition. Participants of Tambunan’s Strongman Competition must overcome extreme obstacles and challenges laid out, testing their utmost capabilities to discover who will come out as Tambunan’s Strongman Champion.
In conjunction with Visit Tambunan Year 2017, the Tambunan 4×4 Challenge is definitely a go-to for all you off-road thrill seekers. Put your mad 4WD driving skills to the test as you navigate through the back roads of Tambunan district, a perfect location for off-roading with its many dirt roads and rivers to encounter.
Something for those who love trekking, the Minduk Sirung Trail Challenge is a 12km downhill trekking race that begins from the Gunung Alab substation with its finishing line at Mahua Waterfall Substation. A whole different kind of race and experience, the challenge is organized by Sabah Parks and is only for those who are up for a good challenge.
Are you fit enough? The Tambunan Strongfit Challenge will challenge you both mentally and physically through its hyper quadrathlon event. What to expect? Kick-off with a 5km run, 4km kayaking through Tambunan’s Pengalan River, 2km cycling and lastly, a series of strongman sports like Military Press, Dead Lift and even the Rampanau (bamboo stilts) walk to the finish line.
This open Tug-Of-War challenge sets out to find the strongest men in the state. It is not only a test of strengths but also teamwork and skills. If tug-of-war isn’t your kind of challenge, it’s just as fun and exciting to be a spectator, cheering for your favourite team!
4WD and outdoor enthusiasts, this one’s for you. The Borneo 4WD & Outdoor Show will showcase an array of products, information, advice and entertainment like 4WD and outdoor accessories, 4WD clubs, water sports, electronics, lifestyle products and lots more- All this to get you geared up for your next outdoor expedition. Another thing to watch out for is the exhibition of newly released vehicles.
The ‘Double Six’ was a plane crash tragedy which happened on the 6th of June 1976, taking the lives of some of Sabah’s top leaders. An event to commemorate the tragedy will take place at the Double Six Monument located in Grace Point, Sembulan.
Do you have what it takes to be Borneo’s King of Iron Fist? Battle it out against the best Tekken fighter in Borneo. Other activities include a Cosplay Competition, martial arts performance, punching power test, PlayStation VR Demo and lots more!
The line-up of performances features Gabriel Lynch from Australia, The Endleaves, and spoken word Arisha Akhir and Emily Mary Chin, and many other more performances.
