Mountain Guides were among celebrated at Sabah Tourism Awards 2015

sta2 years of great excellence in tourism industry was again celebrated at Sabah Tourism Awards 2015 on 21 November at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort. This prestigious event is to honour great tourism players of hotels and resorts, tour operators, media, journalists, and many more for their contributions and development of the tourism industry in Sabah.

The evening was incomplete without a grand entrance of Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, show performances from local artists, an Elvis impersonator, and of course the ever green Malaysia’s Queen of Jazz, Sheila Majid.

Datuk Masidi Manjun during his speech acknowledged the bravery and selfless act shown by the mountain guides during the Sabah earthquake that hit Mount Kinabalu in June 2015 that claimed lives. Later he presented the Minister Special Award to the Kinabalu Park Rangers & Kinabalu Mountain Guides received by Martin Moguring, Gregory Duanis, Mithun Jay Langgim and Ridzuan Kauhimin whose picture piggybacking an injured student inspired netizens around the world. They were honoured with a standing ovation from the audience.

Other recipients of the award were ESSCOMM and low cost airline AirAsia which also named for Best Airline. Check out this full list of award winners. Congratulations to all winners and see you in 2017.
