| The upside down car in garage |
Now, travellers to Borneo has another reason to
visit Sabah, Malaysia. The news about the newly opened upside down house is
widespread on the internet. The bizzare looking house or 'rumah terbalik' in
Malay is believed to be the first in South East Asia. It was featured in the
Malaysia Guinness Book of Records.
To date, there are only seven upside down
structures in the world (7 wonders of the world?) include the famous restaurant
in Matsumoto city, Nagano prefecture, Japan; the Upside Down Church and the
WonderWork Amusement Park in the United States; Die Welt Steht Kopf (“The World
Stands on its Head”) House on the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea, The
House-Attack in Vienna, Austria; and The House of Katmandu on the Spanish
island of Majorca.

This property with 'house flipping' concept is
located at Mile 21, Jalan Telibong near Tamparuli town. Visitors who travel by
land from Kota Kinabalu to Kinabalu Park, Kiulu (for rafting), Sandakan,
Semporna or Tawau can stop for a visit. The site is crowded on weekend and
public holiday though. No photography allowed inside the building. There's a café
that sells breads, drinks and snacks, gift shop and public toilet for
visitors.
Surely, all eyes will be glued to the upside down
Kancil car and other household items like sofa, fridge and TV will make you think
aloud as if you popped into the wrong world.
